Funny Stories

Goodnight Moon
Why kids love this book so much is beyond me…however, Annika does. About a month ago, when we started her bedtime routine to have her sleep in her crib and not in a bassinet next to our bed, I wanted to read a book about night time. I realized I had Goodnight Moon, so I read that one. Well, she seemed to like it, so I continued to read it every night, along with another one. Well, now it is the only book she wants. If we try to read another one, she is looking around for Goodnight Moon the whole time. Sometimes she will even shriek and cry for Goodnight Moon if we start with another book. The first night it happened, I picked out a new book and she started acting fussy. I thought maybe she just didn’t want a book that particular night. I decided to try another one and tried Goodnight Moon and she was happy. It turns out she actually prefers that book! And there is one page she always touches – pets even – the page that says “goodnight mouse” with the little mouse in a circle. It is weird that she always touches that page, right where the mouse is. Very cute. Again, I thought it was a coincidence, until she started doing it over and over!

My Eye!
The other day Annika woke from her nap, her usual jovial waker-upper, all smiles and ready to play! I picked her up and held her on my lap, facing me. Pretty soon, she started looking at me very intently, rotating her head from side to side, to look at me from different angles. I could not figure out WHAT she was doing, until she tried to grab my eyelashes. She was discovering my eyes, all the parts of it...it was hilarious and SO cute!

Hi Daddy"
One morning, Tim came into the bedroom to say goodbye to Annika and I before he went to work. Annika rolled over, looked right at Tim and we BOTH swore she said "Hi Daddy". But she couldn't have, right???
