I just told my baby "this is almost comical" after she threw up on me - and the chair, the bed and the floor - for the third time in an hour! It made me think about all of the little frustrations, nuisances of motherhood that are almost comical, even if they are maddening in the moment they happen.
The other night, my baby was up until 1 a.m, then again at 4, 6 and 8. All this after she had been sleeping through the night 5-8 hrs. for the previous 4 months, and the second night in a row she had done this! I was SO tired, just trying to get her to fall back asleep. I burped her, and she did burp, then held her against my chest and laid down with her hoping she would fall asleep against my chest. She didn't. Instead she threw up down my neck, chest and in my hair. So, instead of going back to sleep, I had to go wash my hair. You can imagine my frustration at the time...but then I went back to bed and she, in fact, did manage to gift me with a half hour of sleep before we got up, with the snuggle time I so longed for.
Today I sit in a hotel room waiting for my husband to get back from a meeting and my gorgeous girl has managed to nurse almost the entire time he has been gone, and throw up on the pillows, chair I am sitting on, the floor and me, of course. Not to mention the poop explosion on her sleeper and one of the hotel towels. The housekeeper is going to LOVE us! The third time she threw up I just laughed and told her "this is almost comical" then gave her a bath.
