26 Weeks

26 Weeks: Weight - 150 lbs.; Waist - 38; Hips - 40; Bust - 37

I had another ultrasound today and everything looks right on. We even got to see a 3 -D image. Phyllis, my mother-in-;aw and my friend Laura were able to come with me. It was fun and exciting and reassuring! So I guess I am back to having an easy pregnancy with no worries (Let's hope it stays that way). I can't believe I only have 14 weeks left (and still no stretch marks!). I think it has went by so fast and am really going to miss it! We will see how I feel in a month or two!

I AM freaking out a little because the baby isn't moving as much as recently, just like my last blog said (how I worry about it). But the midwife and the ultrasound technician said not to worry - the baby's growth and heart rate were fine and those things would be concerning if there was a problem.

Some of you have asked about my use of a doula. I would like to experience as natural a childbirth as possible. Some interesting doula Facts - Recent studies indicate that using a doula can:
  • decrease request for epidural by 60%
  • decrease overall cesarean rate by 50%
  • decrease oxytocin use by 40%
  • decrease the need for forceps by 40%
  • decrease the mother's request for pain medication by 30%
  • decrease the length of labor by 25%
  • help fathers participate with confidence
  • increase success in breastfeeding and greater maternal satisfaction.
Check back next week for more updates!
